MEMORISATION OF THE 3 NOTES PER STRING NATURAL MINOR SCALE BOX SHAPES FOR 6-STRING GUITAR
These shapes cannot be classified with the conventional CAGED guitar system as they are hybrid shapes that sit across more than one letter of the word CAGED at a time, however the CAGED octaves methodology eliminates this problem.
The generally accepted shape names for the three notes per string natural minor scales are listed below with their CAGED octaves equivalent :-
The D natural minor scale will be used to illustrate the CAGED octaves method for the 3 notes per string box shape patterns - the D natural minor scale note names and intervals are shown for the entire guitar fretboard in the diagrams that follow.
