The classic riff from the Bob Marley and the Wailers hit - I Shot the Sheriff uses only notes from the G pentatonic minor scale. The notes used are highlighted on the fingerboard diagram below - try listening and work the riff out for yourself.
G pentatonic minor scale box shapes
The image that follows shows what Guitar Pro 6 describes as the Minor Pentatonic (5th mode of major pentatonic) - more commonly known as the G pentatonic minor scale. As usual this is totally indigestible by most guitar players (plus the Bb is misspelt as A#) and needs to be broken down into more manageable chunks.
